Janice Ivers

Ivers Appointed to State Nursing Board

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社 (NPC) Dean of Nursing, Janice Ivers was appointed to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) earlier this month by Governor Asa Hutchinson. Her appointment expires October 1, 2020. The board was established by the Arkansas Legislature more than 100 years ago and is responsible for 鈥渄eveloping standards for safe nursing care, approval of nursing schools and regulating licenses to practice nursing,鈥 according to the ASBN website. Ivers is passionate about nursing and has been in the field for more than 33 years. She holds a Bachelor鈥檚 of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and a Master鈥檚 of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Central Arkansas.

MLT Program Receives 10 Year Accreditation

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社鈥檚 (NPC) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program was awarded a ten-year continuing accreditation from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) last month, the maximum award given by the organization. The accrediting review process is a long and intensive cycle which includes a comprehensive self-study report, and a site visit of the program which took place last spring. Program faculty must provide a summary of the last five years of annual reporting data, explanation of assessment strategies, continuous quality improvement methods, and graduate and employer feedback.

NPC Art Student Featured at River Valley Arts Center

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社 (NPC) art student Carol Sheets has been invited to exhibit her work at the River Valley Arts Center during the month of December. An opening reception will be held December 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. Sheets won 鈥淏est of Show鈥 during the Collegiate Art Competition earlier this year for her portrait, 鈥淏est Friends,鈥 which featured her granddaughter Micah and her dog, Piper. Sheets earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Education from Henderson State University. She spent 31 years teaching secondary and elementary education in the Garland County area. Upon retirement, she enrolled at NPC to pursue an interest in the subject of art.

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社鈥檚 (NPC) honors society, Alpha Beta Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), hosted People, Pictures, Prostheses: The Possibilities Tuesday evening. The event was part of an annual Honors in Action project. This chapter's goal is to bring community awareness to the evolution of these engineered, life-enhancing products. PTK President, Howard Cheresnick said, 鈥淭he project is intended to raise awareness of prostheses and how they have evolved over the years, as well as how they have changed people's lives in our community.鈥

NPC Singers Host Fall Concert

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社 (NPC) choral ensemble, the NPC Singers, will host a fall concert at St. Luke鈥檚 Episcopal Church Tuesday, December 6, at 7 p.m. The choir will perform "A Wealth of Common Song" and the program will feature folk music from Scotland, Ireland, England and Canada. Local flutist Shelley Martin will be featured on an arrangement of the Irish ballad "Carrickfergus" for choir and flute. Pianist Lowella Cherry will accompany the choir.

Campus Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社 will be closed Wednesday, November 23 through Saturday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. No classes will be held Monday, November 21 through Saturday, November 26. Campus will resume regular hours on Monday, November 28. Registration for spring semester is now open. Classes begin Wednesday, January 11.

NPC Earns Military Friendly庐 Schools Designation

Hot Springs, AR 鈥 黑料福利社 (NPC) announced that it earned the 2017 Military Friendly庐 School designation during the Annual Veteran鈥檚 Day Celebration. Hot Springs High School NJROTC provided the presentation of the colors for the event. NPC veteran student, James Clark, retired from the U.S. Marine Corps sang the National Anthem. The NPC Student Government Association provided coffee and donuts for attendees. Rick Martin and Gene Rasuer represented the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10483 in Hot Springs Village. Guest speaker, Lt. Colonel Joel Lynch addressed the crowd.

黑料福利社 Announces Summer Dean鈥檚 List and President鈥檚 List

Hot Springs, Arkansas 鈥 黑料福利社 (NPC) Office of Student Affairs released the Dean鈥檚 List and President鈥檚 list for the Summer 2016 semester. Thirty-eight students were named to the Dean鈥檚 List and twenty-nine students were named to the President鈥檚 List. Students on the Dean鈥檚 List must maintain a minimum of a 3.25 semester GPA and a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Students on the President鈥檚 List must maintain a minimum of a 3.6 semester GPA and a 3.6 cumulative GPA.
