黑料福利社 (NPC) Cultural Diversity Awareness Club (CDAC) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council will host Walk a Mile in Her Shoes庐 in celebration of International Women鈥檚 Day March 13 at 11:45 a.m. in the NPC gymnasium.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes庐 takes place on college and university campuses around the country through the months of March and April annually. The march is a playful way to increase awareness for serious women鈥檚 issues, including sexualized violence against women. The march will feature male faculty, staff and students from a variety of areas on campus who will wear red high-heeled shoes.

Darla Thurber, vice president for external affairs and chief diversity officer said, 鈥淔or this year鈥檚 event we have chosen to shine a light on an important issue in our community, the need for resources for the victims of domestic violence. We are asking everyone to bring donations in support of Ouachita Family Services, a brand new domestic violence shelter in our community.鈥

Monica Montgomery, program director of the new domestic violence services program, Ouachita Family Services, and Susan Millerd, NPC鈥檚 Intervention Specialist, will be guest speakers. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:45 a.m. and the march will begin at 12:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
